As an avid fan of phở and shrimp spring rolls, I couldn't pass up the chance to work on the branding and web design for a Vietnamese restaurant. Chef Mindy, a talented Vietnamese-American chef, was eager to create a distinctive handcrafted brand and placed her trust in us to make that vision a reality.

Nôm embodies the fusion of Vietnamese tradition and contemporary flavors. The menu features a selection of light dishes, including phở and spring rolls. Whether you're stopping in for a quick snack or enjoying a relaxed meal, Nôm captures the essence of Vietnam in every bite.

Nôm is deeply rooted in Vietnamese culture, and we aimed to honor that heritage. The cultural significance greatly influenced our overall vision. We incorporated illustrative elements such as the woman, fan, and phở to reflect Vietnamese culture in a playful and contemporary manner. The rabbit and two-dimensional Begonia flower further highlight the Asian influence in our artistic direction.

Every detail, from the illustrations to the logo, was hand-drawn and completely unique. Chef Mindy envisioned an art-forward approach, so we opted for a more raw, handcrafted, and artistic feel, avoiding overly polished lines and shapes. The website embodies a straightforward, modern, and stylish aesthetic, while the vibrant and earthy elements are preserved within the physical restaurant space.

Nôm represents the fusion of contemporary and cultural elements. Nestled in the heart of NYC, it aims to showcase Vietnamese flavors while celebrating global diversity.

Our design emphasizes muted tones complemented by light green accents. Through our research, we observed that traditional Vietnamese cuisine and art often featured greens and reds; however, we opted for a distinctive approach by focusing on green. The use of red seemed too conventional. Although Nôm embodies a modern aesthetic, the branding incorporates a handcrafted essence to harmonize modernity with authenticity.
